Brandon Oest

I have been making movies since I was young. I remember forcing my friends or family members to be in these dumb little movies came up with. Even at that point, I knew I was happiest behind a camera. 20+ years later, I still feel the same way.

My film career really took off in October of 2018. With my grandma’s health deteriorating quickly, I had wanted to capture what she was like before things got too bad. I hadn’t even planned on releasing any of it, but I just decided to put it on my Vimeo Channel. A couple weeks later, I had gotten an email from a Producer at ABC’s “Right This Minute” (http://www.rightthisminute.com/video/rtmtv-daughter-cares-mom-dementia) wanting to do a segment on it to air nationally on their show. Since that time, it has been entered in a number of film festivals and won awards including an Audience Choice Award.

As of now, my main passion is making short narrative films. I also work with small businesses in the Iowa City, IA area where I am based, to make commercials that really capture who they are. And yes, I do the occasional wedding.
